Background:

DI project team supported technology-enabled renewable energy with market expansion into Vietnam, with the help of the Japanese government.

The client company provides one-stop services of solar sharing, including design, purchasing materials, construction, installation, maintenance, and administrative treatment in farmland and distribution of earnings to the farmers.

Support Overview:

DI adopted a systematic approach to support the client’s market entry strategy in Vietnam. The key activities included:

  • Macro Research and Initial Hypotheses Development: DI conducted a comprehensive analysis of Vietnam’s agricultural sector and energy demand. The team explored the hypothesis that agrivoltaics creates a symbiotic relationship where solar panels and crops mutually benefit by enhancing productivity and energy efficiency.
  • Market Opportunity Identification: DI assessed various crop segments for compatibility with solar energy systems, focusing on factors such as crop height and shade tolerance. The analysis highlighted tea, coffee, and pepper as priority crops based on their energy consumption patterns and suitability for agrivoltaics.
  • Business Model Development: DI designed a tailored business model for introducing Agrivoltaics solutions, incorporating a “Loan to Farmers” program to alleviate the initial financial burden for large-scale farms. Additionally, DI proposed a low-carbon tea branding initiative in collaboration with local governments, farmers, and the client company. This initiative aimed to promote environmental preservation and enhance market visibility for the client’s solutions.

Through these efforts, DI provided the client with actionable insights and strategic frameworks to enable a successful market entry and sustainable growth in Vietnam’s renewable energy and agricultural sectors.
